On Saturday, 21st June 2025, Celestial Church of Christ National Headquarters, Makoko, Lagos State became a sacred ground of reflection and reverence as the Church hosted an Amissa Service in honour of Late Superior Evangelist O.A. Adefeso and Mother Celestial Adefeso.
The service, rich in prayer, solemn reflection, and heartfelt repentance, brought together family members, associates, and parishioners to remember and celebrate the legacy of a couple whose lives were intricately woven into the very fabric of Celestial Church’s early years.
Among the guests in attendance was Most Superior Evangelist Banjo, a childhood friend of Late Sup/Evang. Adefeso. Their spiritual journey traces back to the 1960s when, as young seekers, they were introduced to Celestial Church of Christ through Late Superior Evangelist Adewusi. Alongside other devoted youths—Late Sup/Evang. Ogunlesi and Rev. Pastor Owodunni, they were among the early converts who received their first sanctification under the then Shepherd of Makoko Parish, Late Rev. Alexander Abiodun Bada, who would later become Pastor Founder of the Church worldwide.
The atmosphere was steeped in history and holy reverence as Venerable Superior Evangelist Afsi Kiki, the current Shepherd of CCC Makoko, delivered a powerful sermon. In his message, he honoured the enduring contributions of the Adefeso family, describing them as foundational pillars of the Church. Sup/Evang. O.A. Adefeso, in particular, was noted as one of the first registered members of the Church’s Board of Trustees (BOT), working tirelessly for the growth, unity, and administration of the Church during its formative years.
As hymns echoed through the sacred sanctuary and candles flickered in quiet tribute, the congregation was reminded not just of the past, but of the enduring call to service, humility, and steadfast faith. This Amissa Service not only honoured the memory of two faithful servants of God, but also rekindled the Church’s collective memory of its humble beginnings, its spiritual milestones, and the sacrifice of those who laid the foundation.
May the souls of Sup/Evang. O.A. Adefeso and Mother Celestial Adefeso continue to rest in the bosom of the Lord, and may their legacy remain a beacon for generations to come.
