The recent PROMOTIONS of shepherds by Pastor Rev EMF Oshoffa have sparked a wave of enthusiasm and anticipation among the congregation. The Pastor exercised his authority as outlined in section 108 of the church constitution on 26th December 2024, to elevate certain senior clergies to higher ranks. However, this decision has sparked controversy among some members who feel that fairness and equality were not upheld in the selection process.
Many senior clergies who were eligible for promotion to the rank of Assistant Most Superior Evangelist were disappointed to find that their rights had been denied. Questions have arisen regarding the criteria used to select the promoted clergies, as well as the reasons for disqualifying long-serving shepherds who have dedicated over 35 years of their lives to the church.
Notable shepherds such as V/S/E Kiki Lagos, V/S/E Bangobi Edo, V/S/E Ogundipe Oyo, V/S/E Ojugbele ā Lagos, V/S/E Dudubo ā Ijesa land, V/S/E Hounmali ā Yewa Awori, V/S/E Odiagbe ā Oyo, V/S/E Orokunle ā Ondo and others from various parishes were notably absent from the list of promotions. These individuals have maintained impeccable records, consistently fulfilled their duties, and adhered to the Pastorās directives. Despite their loyalty and commitment, they were overlooked in favour of others.
The decline in promotion opportunities has caused tension among members who believe that the Pastor may have been advising incorrectly in disqualifying those who have maintained their integrity in the field of shepherding. It has been revealed that those who receive favour from the Pastor are those who regularly visit him, call him, and engage in other forms of communication. Currently, the Pastorās Office has not addressed the issue of the decline in promotion opportunities.
Sources suggest that Rev. EMF Oshoffa should return to the original practices of the Pastor Founder (Prophet SBJ Oshoffa) and his successor (Late Rev. Bada) where shepherds were promoted equally. Shepherds who adhered to doctrinal practices were promoted at the appropriate time without any bias.
As the congregation seeks clarity on the promotion process and the Pastorās decision-making criteria, it is essential to address these concerns with transparency and fairness. The church must uphold the values of integrity and inclusivity to ensure that all senior clergies are treated equitably and with respect. It is imperative that the Pastorās Office addresses these concerns and ensures that promotion opportunities are fair and based on merit. By following the practices of the past Pastors, the church can maintain integrity and unity among its members.
