The divine endorsement of Celestial Church of Christ by God remains unwavering. The Church is seen as a representation of Celestial in heaven, and despite internal leadership conflicts, the establishment of parishes in Nigeria and beyond continues to progress steadily. The Founder, Pastor SBJ Oshoffa emphasized the importance of God for the Church through his teachings to the world during his lifetime.
The Annual Christmas Convocation service at the World Headquarters, Imeko, Ogun State is the only event that brings together Celestial members from around the world. Originally held in the Republic of Benin, the Church Constitution documented that through the direction of the holy spirit Pastor SBJ Oshoffa was inspired to relocate the service to Imeko City, believing it would attract a larger gathering of Celestial Church members worldwide. Since the foundational laying of Imeko in 1982, the Pastor Founder declared that the Church should convene for the Annual Christmas Service at Imeko. This tradition has been faithfully upheld by the Church ever since, in honour of the Pastor Founder’s vision.
IMEKO 2024 CONVOCATION
The recent Convocation has concluded, and the prayers of members have been answered as we trust in the divine guidance of God for the Church. Following the Convocation, members have turned their focus towards their individual life goals. The Committee for the Imeko Convocation of 2024 will have convene to assess all activities and provide recommendations for the upcoming year. As a dedicated member of the Celestial Church, it is imperative that we offer our observations to aid in the development of the church after 77 years of existence. These observations are crucial for addressing any inefficiencies in administration and ensuring a world-class Convocation.
EXPANSION OF MERCY LAND
The Mercy Land at Imeko serves as a focal point for many Celestian members during the Convocation, with a strong emphasis on prayer over social activities. The significant turnout of worshippers at the Mercy Land highlights the deep spiritual connection of the members, despite the challenges posed by the Church’s leadership structure. This turnout is a testament to the Pastor Founder’s vision, who believed that those who gather at Imeko in faith will receive divine intervention. However, the current size of the Mercy Land is insufficient to accommodate the growing number of worshippers, leading to overcrowding and potential safety concerns. It is recommended that the authority promptly extend the Mercy Land by adding four entrances and exits to facilitate smoother access and prevent any potential stampeding.
AUDIO SYSTEM AT MERCYLAND
The audio system at Mercyland was subpar, with an output frequency that was inadequate for the number of worshippers in attendance. The sound only reached -106 db, and the extension speakers were unable to produce a full range distance output. It was evident that the musical instruments were rented. It is imperative that the Church authority and incoming ICC make arrangements for a standard line array speaker with stage monitors for the upcoming convention. By investing in line array speakers with amplifiers, the Mercyland can ensure a better audio experience for future gatherings.
CELESTIAL HOSPITAL AT IMEKO
The safety and well-being of worshippers should be the top priority for the Church authority and the ICC. The State General Hospital in Imeko, located near Baba Bada’s house is unable to provide adequate healthcare for members of the Church. It is recommended that the Church authority establish a mini clinic for members during future convocations. Additionally, having a medical outpost with a mini vehicle for emergencies can ensure prompt attention and transportation to the hospital when needed. With doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers among its members, the Church has the resources to provide better healthcare services for the members. It is essential that the Church and ICC authority prioritize the establishment of a health clinic for the benefit of all.
