THE PROPER WAY TO CONDUCT NAMING CEREMONY IN CCC.
Spiritual items required for naming ceremony in CCC are:
White Basi, Holy Water, Honey, Sugar, Salt, Seven kinds of fruits, 2 packs of candle, Round candle stand, Incense etc
In Celestial It is compulsory to Christen a child exactly one week after its birth just as it was done to Jesus Christ in the book of Luke 2:21.
And in cases or a situation where the baby is not physically available at the parish where the naming ceremony is expected to hold, a substitute of a candle stick wrapped with a new powercloth that has 7cross on it(aso agbara) will be use in place of the child.
However, the baby wherever it may be must have a taste of honey, salt and sugar that same day to welcome him fully into the world. Then Luke 2:21-39 is read from the Holy Bible. That passage is talking about how Jesus Christ was brought into the Jerusalem for christened. That’s the footstep Celestial Church of Christ is following as divinely instructed to do. In case where the baby is absent, the sugar,salt,water and honey will be taken to the baby and the mother where ever they may be after the service in the church.
Naming service is subdivided into three phases that must take place simultaneously
1. Sanctification of the baby at the entrance
2. Full naming in the church
3. Handing over of the child to the mother at the entrance.
NOTE: Before the sanctification of the child at the entrance, certain things must have been put in place. i.e 7 candle stand in a white basin in which three of the candles should be lit.
Provision for a prophet that will carry the child should also be made, female prophet to carry a female child and vice versa. Where there is no male prophet to carry a male child, a young male child will carry the baby and sit beside a female prophetess and vice versa.
Before the child is handed over to the Prophet/prophetess at the entrance, the Shepherd must read a Psalm (24).
The Shepard will sanctify the baby take the baby from the mother and hand it over to the prophet who is already in spirit, and after that pray to God; converting the child from Blood to Flesh and from Flesh to Spirit.
Then the service conductor takes over to conduct the service.
The CCC Hymn 929 Awa yo dupe, will be Sing as the processional song instead of our regular Jerimoyamah,and congregation dance into the church in this order
Incensee carrier first ,
Followed by the basin carrier,
The prophet carrying the child,
Seven elders ,
Choir,
Congratulations
The seven elders with the prophet, the Incense carrier, basin carrier and prophet carrying the child will dance around the 7 kinds of fruit and the honey, salt and sugar placed in the middle of the church before the prophet then take a seat there. Service then begins proper.
During the course of the service,the prophet will state out the names the Holy Spirit has chosen for the child .
The Bible lesson for the naming ceremony is from the book of Luke 2: 21-39.
After the sermon and collections then we move to the aspect of naming the child.
Names will be given to the child by the shepherd and with him are the six other elders then a taste water ,honey,sugar and salt will be given to the child. Jehovah Chekohiram (3ce) ,Deuteronomy 28 vs 2 to 14, , prayer, Grace.
After the service before going out of the church, Members and guests will submit their gifts/money to the child and have a taste of the honey, salt and sugar, then picks one of the seven kinds of fruits,the they dance out according to how they entered from the beginning of the service.
At the entrance of the church, the baby will be hand over to the mother by the shepherd. In the manner;
1. mother kneels down with basin of water by her right and money& gifts by her left surrounded by the seven elders
2. Sprinkling Holy water on her
3.Prayer for the mother by the Shepherd
4. Hand over the child to the mother
5. Prayer by the seven elders peace, long life, victory, development, God’s light to be with the child’s family, etc
6. Closing prayer and grace by service conductor
7. Seven Halleyah to the four corners of the world.
