In a shocking turn of events, CCC Act of Apostles Parish, Ketu Alapere, Lagos State was thrown into chaos during a Sunday Glorious Service on the 10th November 2024. A viral video circulating online captured the disruption, prompting the Church’s Task Force, led by V/S/E Firmin Akinbode Adjovi, to take immediate action.
The Task Force wasted no time in investigating the situation, with V/S/E Adjovi personally leading the team to the Parish on the 15th November 2024. Upon arrival, they were met with a tense atmosphere as the Parish Shepherd, A/V/S/E Emmanuel explained the events that transpired.
According to A/V/S/E Emmanuel, he was absent during the incident due to a family commitment, leaving others in charge. However, chaos erupted when Muyiwa Olupona forcefully seized the microphone during announcements, claiming he had the right to deliver sermons every second Sunday of the month. He also made controversial statements about financial assistance received from the Pastor’s Office.
The Parochial Committee Chairman was not present during the physical confrontation that occurred recently. He stated that the situation will be clarified to determine whether the church authority has jurisdiction over the Parish. According to him, the founder of the Parish, Baba Olupona had handed over control of the Parish to the Ketu authority before his passing.
The Chairman revealed that the youth of the Parish had attempted to attack the Shepherd with bottles during a musical night, as they believed that certain individuals were supporting Muyiwa Olupona in an attempt to take over the Parish. He explained that Michael Olupona, one of the founder’s sons who was supposed to succeed him, was denied the opportunity to do so. This led to a confrontation during an investiture ceremony in the Parish. Despite this, Michael Olupona has been successful in Badagry.
The chairman said during a Parochial Committee meeting, he firmly stated that if Michael Olupona could not take charge of the Parish as intended by the late founder, then none of the children would be allowed to take over. He also mentioned that Muyiwa Olupona is one of the biological sons of the founder, according to what he heard.
Senior Evangelist Bayo Adetola, who was involved in a dispute with Muyiwa Olupona over who would preach on the 10th November 2024, addressed the congregation of Celestial worldwide during the visitation of the Task Force to offer his sincere apologies for the unfortunate incident that occurred. Senior Evangelist Adetola explained that there were rumours of Olupona planning to disrupt the Parish service, and he felt compelled to stand up for the absent shepherd. He said Muyiwa Olupona, who was only visiting the Parish, attempted to take over the sermon and claimed that the 5 Million Naira donated to the Parish belonged to his family, causing a disturbance that led to members leaving the service.
After the Province Head intervened to restore order, the service was able to continue. Mother Celestial Olupona also shared her perspective, revealing that Muyiwa Olupona was not her husband’s biological son, but rather a child of her mother-in-law’s assistant. Following the incident, Muyiwa allegedly visited her home and made threats. She mentioned that videos of the disruption were sent to her children to keep them informed.
The Head of the CCC Task Force emphasized that the Church does not belong to any individual, as it is registered with the appropriate authority. He expressed the Pastor dissatisfaction with the situation that occurred on the 10th November 2024, deeming it unacceptable.
In the interest of maintaining peace and ensuring the safety of all individuals involved, he announced that the Church will be temporarily closed down to allow for the resolution of any conflicts. The final decisions regarding the matter will be made by the Pastor.
