On 23rd May 23, 1947, a divine mandate descended upon the Pastor Founder, Saint Rev S.B.J. Oshoffa, marking the beginning of Celestial Church of Christ’s sacred journey. That historic day, veiled with eclipse of the sun, bore witness to the heavens declaring a spiritual revolution. It was on this very day that God revealed to His servant the purpose of the assignment: Evangelism, Deliverance, and Doctrinal Purity. Yet, 78 years later, the current leadership of the Church appears to have lost sight of that sacred vision.
Instead of upholding the pillars of the divine call after 78 days, the Church today finds itself entrenched in practices far removed from its original spiritual objectives. Evangelism has waned. Deliverance is side-lined. The safeguarding of core doctrines is increasingly treated as optional. In their place, division, confusion, unaccountability, transfer racketeering, and unremitted anointment fees have become the order of the day.
Most concerning is the complete silence of the Church authority on this day of monumental importance. No commemorative service was held. No official statement was released. No symposium or spiritual reflection was organized to reflect on the impact and progress of this divine commission.
This neglect is not merely a missed opportunity, it is a spiritual and historical betrayal. If the Church authority will not acknowledge the day heaven intervened in human affairs through our founder, who then shall lead the flock back to remembrance and purpose? The silence of the pulpits is loud. And it echoes a dangerous truth: that the divine mandate may be in the hands of men who no longer carry its burden.
Let this serve not as mere criticism, but as a call to repentance and realignment. For without a return to the founding vision of 23rd May 1947, we risk becoming a Church with a form of godliness but lacking the power thereof.
