In a press conference organized at the National Headquarters of the Church Makoko, Lagos State by the Church authority for one of the governorship aspirants under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Samuel Mawuyon Ajose, made a bold declaration of “EMI L’OKAN,” signaling his readiness and strong conviction to lead Lagos State in 2027.
The event, which drew the attention of church elders, members, political observers, and members of the public, witnessed Dr. Ajose addressing the press on his vision, competence, and preparedness to occupy the governorship seat. His declaration reflects growing political momentum as aspirants begin to position themselves ahead of the forthcoming election cycle.
In a significant moment during the interaction, the Pastor of the Church, Rev. EMF Oshoffa publicly endorsed Dr. Ajose, describing him as a preferred candidate for the leadership of Lagos State. The endorsement, made in the presence of church leaders and stakeholders, has since generated conversations across both religious and political circles.
“EMI L’OKAN- this is my time to serve Lagos State with integrity, capacity, and vision, I am not just aspiring; I am prepared, equipped, and committed to delivering a greater Lagos for all because with the support of God and the people, I stand ready to lead Lagos State into a new era of progress and inclusiveness. Leadership is a responsibility, and I am stepping forward because I believe I have what it takes to move Lagos forward.” Dr Ajose explained
Observers note that such a public show of support from a highly revered religious institution could influence public perception, especially among members of the church community. However, it also raises broader discussions on the intersection of religion and politics, particularly regarding institutional neutrality and inclusiveness. Dr. Ajose, while appreciating the support, reiterated his commitment to good governance, development, and inclusive leadership if given the mandate to serve.
