The ongoing 2026 Anointment Exercise at Imeko, Ogun State has brought renewed emphasis on the spiritual discipline required of members following sacred encounters with God.
In a teaching that has since stirred reflection across the fold, Most Superior Evangelist Olusegun Olarinde clearly outlined the doctrinal expectations attached to the anointing exercise, stressing that it is far beyond a ceremonial practice.
According to the senior cleric, anointing is a divine covenant that demands a life of purity, consecration, and spiritual consciousness. He explained that members who partake in the anointing must abstain from sexual intercourse and all forms of unholy activities for three days after the exercise. For shepherds, who carry higher spiritual responsibilities, the period of abstinence extends to seven days.
He emphasized that this period is not merely a restriction, but a time of spiritual preservationwhere the grace, power, and presence received during the anointing are nurtured through holiness and discipline
Furthermore, he instructed that upon completion of the stipulated days, members should return to God in prayer using the same candle from the anointing exercise as a point of contact to place themselves before God. This act symbolizes continuity in fellowship and a reaffirmation of the covenant established during the exercise.
The teaching also highlights the importance of gratitude, as members are expected to offer a Thanksgiving Offering on the following Sunday, acknowledging God’s grace and sealing the spiritual exercise with appreciation.
