The political landscape of Lagos witnessed a major development as Mr. Samuel Mawuyon Ajose officially declared his intention to contest for the governorship seat ahead of the 2027 elections under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The declaration, which took place at the Police College Ground, Lagos State attracted a massive crowd of party faithful, traditional rulers, captains of industry, labour leaders, religious figures and enthusiastic supporters who gathered to witness the historic moment. Also present were Elders and members of Celestial Church of Christ, who came out in large numbers to support the aspirant, whose family has long-standing roots within the Church.
Samuel Ajose is the son of the late Most Superior Evangelist Abraham Ajose, a Shepherd and former International Representative of the Church whose contributions to the growth and stability to the Church remain widely acknowledged. The presence of CCC elders at the declaration event symbolized both honour to the legacy of the late church leader and encouragement for his son’s emerging political journey.
Speaking during the declaration ceremony, Samuel Mawuyon Ajose emphasized that his aspiration is driven by a desire to consolidate and advance the progressive governance that Lagos State has experienced over the years. “Lagos State has experienced a trajectory of visionary leadership and progressive policies. My ambition is to build on these foundations and ensure that the progress of Lagos continues without interruption,” Ajose declared.
Highlighting the importance of youth inclusion in governance, the APC chieftain stressed that young people must be positioned at the center of development. “The future of Lagos lies in the creativity, energy and innovation of our youth. My administration will mobilize the youth, create employment opportunities, and support entrepreneurship so that young people can become drivers of economic growth.”
He further pledged significant investments in education, healthcare and human capital development, education remains the backbone of any progressive society. We will strengthen our educational institutions, improve facilities, and ensure that our children receive the knowledge and skills needed to compete globally.”
On healthcare, Samuel Mawuyon Ajose stated that accessible and affordable medical services would remain a major priority. “Quality healthcare must be available to every Lagosian” he explained. We will invest in hospitals, modern medical facilities and qualified health professionals to ensure a healthier society.”
He also spoke on infrastructure and urban development, promising to sustain Lagos’ reputation as Nigeria’s commercial hub. “Infrastructure development is central to economic prosperity. We will expand our road networks, improve transportation systems and continue building a Lagos that works efficiently for businesses and residents alike.” Samuel Mawuyon Ajose concluded by assuring supporters that his ambition is not merely political but rooted in a desire to serve the people and sustain the development agenda of the state.
