Celestial Church of Christ has reaffirmed its commitment to divine order, spiritual discipline, and institutional accountability with the official return of the Anointing Exercise to Mercyland, following a decisive intervention by the Church Taskforce. Every aspect of the Church operates under clearly defined spiritual ordinances and administrative guidelines handed down through divine instruction. These ordinances, received by the Founder and Pastor, Rev. Pastor Samuel Bilewu Joseph Oshoffa remain binding on the Church and its members, serving as a compass for spiritual growth, order, and reverence.
The Anointing Exercise, recognised as one of the Church’s most sacred spiritual rites, is not a casual activity but a divinely instituted process designed to elevate members spiritually after meeting stipulated requirements and approvals by constituted Church authorities. In a major administrative and spiritual decision, the Church Taskforce, under the leadership of Assistant Most Superior Evangelist Firmin Akinbode Adjovi, and with the consent of the Pastor, approved the return of the Anointing Exercise to Mercyland, its long-established and recognised venue. The move was aimed at restoring proper oversight, accountability and structured coordination of the exercise, in line with historical practice under past leadership.
The decision of the Taskforce was carefully considered to strengthen checks and balances and to ensure that the anointing remains a solemn spiritual duty personally overseen by the Pastor, consistent with the tradition upheld by his father and previous church leaders.
This development followed challenges recorded during the March 2025 Anointing Exercise, which reportedly included overcrowding, security concerns, fence damage, and uncontrolled movement of worshippers issues that raised serious concerns about safety and procedural compliance.
However, the Anointing Exercise held on 27th December 2025 at Mercyland marked a significant improvement. The event was conducted in an orderly and prayer-focused atmosphere, with adequate space for worshippers, strict adherence to guidelines issued by the Taskforce, and coordinated monitoring throughout the exercise.
Observers noted that the return to Mercyland allowed for better crowd management, improved security, and enhanced spiritual concentration, reinforcing the Church’s resolve to balance spiritual activities with responsible administration. The Church Taskforce reiterated that maintaining divine order and institutional discipline remains essential to preserving the sanctity of Celestial Church rites, urging members to continue to comply fully with established guidelines as the Church moves forward.
