Sup/Evang Kayode Ajala issued a press statement titled “CHOLERA OUTBREAK: E.M.F. SENDS DELEGATION TO C.C.C. APATA-IYE PARISH, IBADAN.” The statement included a photo of Venerable Superior Evangelist Albert Popoola (Ogun State Regional Evangelist) and Venerable Superior Evangelist Augustine Olumilade (Personal Secretary to the Pastor). It clarified that there were no deaths as a result of ipese consumption, but rather an outbreak of cholera that affected the Parish.
Picture released by Alagba AjalaHowever, reports from Turbine Newspaper and other daily publications have indicated that five members of the church have tragically lost their lives, with others currently receiving treatment at the Infectious Disease Centre in the Olodo area of Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State. Fortunately, over 50 of the worshippers who were affected have already been discharged from the centre, as reported.
The situation has caused confusion, with the Parish Parochial Committee Honorary Evangelist Korede Ogunmola issuing a press statement attributing the incident to a cholera outbreak. However, the Spokesman for the church has justify this claim, labelling it as fake news on the Ipese consumption, but it’s surprising that a church with a 77-year history would disseminate information without proper verification. Additionally, Superior Evangelist Kayode Ajala should be condemn for lacking effective communication skills, as he shared unconfirmed news allegedly originating from France.
In light of these conflicting reports, it is imperative that the church authorities promptly establish a fact-finding committee to investigate the matter thoroughly. A comprehensive press statement should be issued to clarify the real cause of the unfortunate events that transpired at the Parish, ensuring transparency and accountability to the public.
