In light of the upcoming nationwide protest organized by the TAKE IT BACK MOVEMENT scheduled to begin on 1st August 2024, Pastor Rev EMF Oshoffa has issued a warning to the general congregation. He urged members to carefully assess the situation in their local areas before attending church services.
The Pastor emphasized that 1st August 2024 coincides with the New Moon Service, which should be observed by shepherds in their respective parishes while taking into consideration the planned protest. He advised members to stay vigilant and stay informed about security reports. If the situation appears unfavourable, members are encouraged to remain indoors for their safety.
Shepherds are advised to carefully assess the conditions in their parish surroundings and make a decision regarding whether or not to proceed with the new month vigil for August 2024. In cases where the situation is deemed unstable, it is recommended that the vigil be cancelled. However, if the security situation in their immediate vicinity allows, the vigil may proceed.
It was reported that the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, convened a meeting on Tuesday with legal professionals and activists who have expressed support for the peaceful protests organized by young Nigerians against government policies.
In addition to Mr. Egbetokun, other participants in the virtual meeting included police spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi, Senior Advocates Femi Falana and Ebun Adegboruwa, as well as human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong to discuss about the safety of the protest throughout the nation.
