In an effort to address these issues, some of us have made personal visits to some elders who have expressed their grievances. These meetings were not meant to push any particular agenda, but rather to find a way forward and seek a lasting solution to the disputes that have caused division within our church.
While some members may disagree with our viewpoints, others have shown support for our submissions. Unfortunately, there are those who perceive our concerns as an attack on the institution. It is worth noting that some individuals who occupy positions within our church such as the Board of Trustees, Pastor in Council and various committees will eventually pass on these roles to a new generation of leaders, it just a matter of time.
It has been established that some members of the Council, who work closely with the Pastor Founder Rev SBJ Oshoffa have been burdened with a lot of responsibilities. Unfortunately, some individuals within the PIC have taken my perspective as an attack on their character. This notion has been injected by those who seek to use the Council to settle personal vendettas.
These individuals had previously condemned the appointment of Rev EMF Oshoffa as the Pastor of the Church for 19 years and 8 months. They alleged that the Holy Spirit did not choose Rev EMF Oshoffa to lead the Church, but rather it was the decision of Baba Banjo and some elders to appoint him as our Pastor.
Interestingly, these same individuals, when given the opportunity to head a committee suddenly changed their tune from condemnation to praise for the Pastor. However, this praise was only a facade meant to further their own agenda. Some of them have been nullified by competent court of jurisdiction, yet instead of accepting their fate as non-members of the Council, they continue to use the Council as a platform to push their malicious intentions under the guise of progress.
It is a fact that the council has the mandate to defend the doctrinal practice of the Church as stated in sections 157, 158 and 159 of the Church Constitution. Their responsibilities hold the future of whether the church will continue on the right path. I do not have any negative feelings towards the Pastor in Council, as God knows about their current occupation of seats.
However, there are some individuals within the council who may feel differently about the administration system. They may think that I am attacking them, but in reality, I am challenging their mind-set and the responsibilities given to them.
It is known that some members also believe that being a part of the Council gives them the opportunity to oppress common parishioners and shepherds. This belief has affected the perception of what the council truly represents. It is my belief that attempts to silence the ongoing scrutiny of our church’s practices will ultimately fail. Genuine accountability, transparency, and adherence to our doctrinal teachings as prescribed by God and established by our Pastor Founder should not be hindered by those seeking to avoid scrutiny.
It is crucial for us to work together towards a common goal of unity and understanding within our church, despite any differences in opinion. Let us strive to create a harmonious church that fosters growth and collaboration for the betterment of our kingdom on earth.
