This clarification comes in light of our publication on the 14th of April 2024, titled “Is This the Newly Approved Dress Code for Superior Evangelist?” In addition, the Diocese released a photo featuring Late Rev AA Bada and Late Rev Ajose with the press statement noting that Late Rev Ajose was wearing a Superior Evangelist regalia cassock without a cape. The statement emphasized that if the Agbada overall regalia is worn, the cassock underneath should be capeless. However, it was pointed out that V/S/E Adeoba wore a capeless cassock without the Agbada.
The Canada Diocese statement includes-
The CCC Canada Diocese has recently become aware of the misinformation regarding certain dress codes within our community. It has become imperative to address and correct these misconception in order to educate the general public effectively. Our goal is to provide clear guidance on proper dress codes, drawing for the practice of our esteemed predecessors and spiritual leaders.
It’s essential to clarify that the cape cassock of any rank regalia are considered complete attire (even without Agbada Overall) permitting individuals to sit at the altar without wearing cape cassock ( from any Most Senior Evangelist Upward).
However, when the Agbada Overall is worn, the cassock underneath should be capeless, as demonstrated by Baba Ajose wearing the capeless cassock to Superior Evangelist.
As per section 158 (i-v) of the Church Constitution, the Pastor’s Office and the Pastor in Council are empowered to interpret doctrinal practices. Therefore, we urgently request that the Church authority address this matter for clarification and correction.
