As the Shepherd of CCC International Headquarters in Ketu, Lagos State, his recent comments regarding the Church’s stance on polygamy have raised eyebrows among members. While Tosho Oshoffa claims that the Church does not have a specific law prohibiting multiple marriages, many members believe that the Bible should serve as the ultimate guide for such matters. However, the Church Constitution highlighted the significant of marriage under section 195 to 197
SECTION 195 OF CELESTIAL CHURCH OF CHRIST CONSTITUTION.
Celestial Church of Christ respects marriages solemnized in holy wedlock in accordance with covenants entered into between husband and wife before God at His Holy Altar.
SECTION 196 OF CELESTIAL CHURCH OF CHRIST CONSTITUTION
All marriages in holy wedlock solemnized in other Christian churches are recognized by Celestial Church of Christ. All vows made at such Christian are recognized by, Celestial Church of Christ as inviolate because anyone who covenants with God but fails to honour it sins before God (Ecc. 5:4-6).
SECTION 197 OF CELESTIAL CHURCH OF CHRIST CONSTITUTION

It Is important to note that Church law does not explicitly endorse polygamy, and Tosho Oshoffa statements have caused division among the congregation. Some members support his views on expanding marriage beyond one wife, while others strongly oppose his interpretation of biblical teachings.
Critics argue that Tosho Oshoffa should exercise caution when speaking on behalf of the Church, as his words have the potential to create confusion among non-celestial members. Moving forward, it is essential for Tosho Oshoffa to consider consulting with Church leaders before making public statements that may impact the beliefs and practices of the congregation.
It is essential for the Church authority to promptly release a comprehensive statement regarding its position on marriage as a religious organization.
