On the 23rd of May 1947, a divine assignment was given solely to Rev Pastor SBJ Oshoffa to establish a Church with the purpose of spreading salvation. Interestingly, there were no instructions to announce his siblings or children as a means to fulfill this mandate. The Pastor Founder referred to the members of the Church as his “children,” while his biological children were considered members of his family. This distinction was made because those who joined the fold transformed the Church into a standard of God’s values.
However, an uncontrollable situation arose in 1985 after the departure of the Pastor Founder, Rev SBJ Oshoffa. This untimely event led to numerous controversial decisions within the Church administration structure. The successor after the Pastor Founder was a complete disciplinarian who strictly followed the instructions of his spiritual leader. While, the short term of Rev Ajose did not provide a comprehensive analysis of his leadership abilities. Those who closely follow the events within the Church are well aware of the significant impact that certain Elders had in the appointment of Rev EMF Oshoffa as the Pastor. These Elders demonstrated their commitment to divine instructions by handpicking the Pastor Founder’s first son, a crucial step towards the Church’s reestablishment and fulfillment of its primary objective. It is widely acknowledged that unity within the Church was a prevailing sentiment prior to the emergence of the current Pastor.
To fully appreciate the Church’s current situation, one cannot overlook the undeniable influence of the 53 Oshoffa Dynasty. The Pastor Founder’s children, particularly those residing in Nigeria and Benin have exhibited an authoritative management style in the Church. Their impact has been felt through their involvement in the appointment of Shepherds, as well as their voices being heard in various capacities such as the nomination of MPIC members, the establishment of committees and instructions to BOT members.
One particularly noteworthy aspect is the Office of the Personal Assistant (P.A) to the Pastor. Both the Pastor’s office and the role of the Personal Assistant are occupied by members of the Oshoffa Dynasty. However, conflicting interests regarding control over the P.A office have created divisions among the Pastor Founder’s children, undermining the unity that the family should strive to uphold in order to honor their father’s values, which were instrumental in establishing the Church as a beacon of salvation.
The differences among the Pastor Founder’s children in their views on how the Church should be managed have been a source of effort. Some of the children hold conservative opinions, while others are more inclined towards making rough decisions. In personal conversations with Pastor Rev EMF Oshoffa, he admitted to be manipulating his brother’s intelligence in order to maintain a balanced force within the congregation. The Pastor’s siblings consistently display their preferred followers among the worshippers who align with the individualistic school of thought within the Oshoffa Dynasty.
Certain members close to the Oshoffa Dynasty have taken advantage of this clash of interests to pursue personal gain at the expense of the children. Unfortunately, the Oshoffa Dynasty has failed to comprehend this dynamic ever since their brother assumed the spiritual leadership of the Church. The divide and rule strategy has insidiously grown among the children, fueled by the selfishness of members who are conscious of their ranks and positions. Regrettably, the children have also allowed this negative narrative to take root within the Oshoffa Dynasty.
It is crucial for the family to prioritize unity and work together harmoniously to uphold the values and legacy of their father, who played a vital role in establishing the Church as a vessel of salvation. It Is believed that just as the genuineness of God is patiently awaited to take control of the Church, it should also extend its influence over the Oshoffa Dynasty.
