Unfortunately, the flyer which promoted the event featured Portable and Alhaji Alabi Wasiu Pasuma has faced severe criticism from the general public including the congregation of Celestial members. Many felt that inviting secular musicians to perform at a Gospel gathering was inappropriate. Portable acknowledged the criticism and admitted to having a wicked reputation due to the treatment he has endured throughout his life. However, he appealed for an opportunity to perform in Celestial Church of Christ Land of Goshen, emphasizing that it could be an interactive mode of praising God. He also mentioned that both he and Alhaji Alabi Wasiu Pasuma had received payment from the event organizers.
Interestingly, it has been confirmed that the same parish had previously invited Alhaji Sule Alao (Malakia) as one of their guest artists during a previous harvest celebration. However, this year’s event seems to have taken a different direction. The Pastor’s office released a press statement condemning the inclusion of secular musicians in Celestial Church of Christ. This raises the question of whether the church truly has genuine Gospel musicians.
The inclusion of secular musicians in a religious gathering has sparked a significant debate among the public and Celestial Church members. It is essential to consider the values and beliefs of the church and its members when making decisions regarding musical performances.
