Let us delve into the captivating history of CCC Oke Ado Cathedral, Ibadan.
The covenant made in December 1973 at CCC Yemetu Parish, Ibadan has surpassed all human expectations, as the purpose of God continues to enrich and bless this remarkable parish in every aspect. It all began with a divine revelation granted to M/S/E Nunayon during a fervent prayer session with a member who had toiled for eight long years at the Oyo State Secretariat without any promotion. Seeking God’s favor, M/S/E Nunayon was astounded when Abgel Michael and Angel Gabriel joyfully appeared before him, revealing a signpost that read “CCC OKE ADO PARISH."
To reaffirm the authority of God, an extraordinary event took place on the 30th of December 1973. A member of CCC Yemetu Parish in Ibadan had a dream about M/S/E Nunayon which mirrored the divine revelation that had been revealed to him. After the service, Brother Toska eagerly shared the dream with M/S/E Nunayon, promising to assist in turning this remarkable vision into reality.
In a further display of God’s unique plans, the Late Rev Paul Maforikan paid a visit to M/S/E Nunayon. In the presence of his wife, Mama Kayode, Rev Maforikan delivered a powerful spiritual message. He witnessed M/S/E Nunayon climbing a ladder, reaching a final destination that had eluded all those who had come before him.
To fulfill his promise, M/S/E Nunayon purchased a piece of land in the Oke Ado Market area through the assistance of Brother Toska. However, this was not the exact location that God had intended for his work. This decision inadvertently allowed a native herbalist named Daddy Oke Irorun, who was also a community leader to threaten the Church with satanic magic. Little did he know that his wicked plan would backfire resulting in the destruction of his own house.
Undeterred by this setback, M/S/E Nunayon and other Elders approached Pa Jaiyesimi seeking his assistance in securing a permanent site for the Church. This was crucial for the full implementation of God’s divine instructions.
After purchasing the land, the real work began. Julius, being the generous soul that he is, decided to take on the task of cutting the grass without asking for any payment. Something unexpected happened. One of the workers, Pa Adefiraiye stumbled upon a mysterious paper on the site. Curiosity got the better of him, so he promptly took it to M/S/E Nunayon. Lo and behold, the paper turned out to be a Petition from the Oyo State Government placing an embargo on the site.
Through the divine instructions of God, M/S/E Nunayon took a bold move. He removed the signpost and instructed the workers to carry on with their work.
Fast forward to October 25th, 1795 a momentous day indeed. The foundation was finally laid, and the presence of Elders graced the occasion. Among them was the wife of the late Rev AA Bada, Prophetess Alice Bada prophesied foresaw that a group of 24 men from the State Government would pay a visit to the Church with the intention of putting a stop to their work.
Sure enough, just as Prophetess Alice Bada predicted, a team of 24 men from the Government arrived. They wasted no time in imposing a barrier to halt the progress of the project. But little did they know that M/S/E Nunayon was prepared. He immediately organized a series of prayer sessions near the building, seeking divine intervention. The Holy Spirit answered his prayers! It appeared to M/S/E Nunayon and instructed him to remove the barriers.
The situation was dire and M/S/E Nunayon knew he had to turn to God for intervention. He locked himself inside his room praying fervently throughout the day desperately seeking a miracle. And miraculously, God spoke to him, instructing him to proceed to the Church site at night without uttering a word to anyone. It was clear that he needed to pray for a final settlement.
At precisely 11:45pm, M/S/E Nunayon gathered his courage and followed the divine instructions. However as he arrived at the site, he was greeted by a mysterious figure dressed entirely in black. Despite the man’s attempts to engage him in conversation, M/S/E Nunayon remained steadfast, focusing solely on his prayers.
The following day, a breakthrough occurred. Mr. Olujoungbe reached out to M/S/E Nunayon and other members seeking their assistance in drafting a powerful petition against the Government decision to demolish their place of worship. The petition was meticulously crafted, and its impact was nothing short of extraordinary. The State Government, upon reviewing the petition swiftly intervened, effectively aborting the planned demolition.
